Origin of Name of Aokigahara Jukai
When you look down thick and green Jukai from above, it looks like a very smooth green carpet.
When the wind blows there, the leaves wave.
The waiving leaves appear to be the rolling waves of the sea, after which Jukai was named as the combination of “Ju (leaves)” and “Kai (sea)”.
Relation with Mount Fuji
The ground of Jukai is made from lava flowing out in the eruption of Mount Nagao, a lateral volcano of Mount Fuji.
Jukai nor the lava caves wouldn’t exist without the volcanic activities of Mount Fuji.
